Becoming Brianna is a radical middle-age graphic novel about a teen girl, of whom is prepping herself for her bat mitzvah, and on top of that, dealing with drama and rumors going around her school about her bat mitzvah. Terri Libenson gives tween-age kids an easily-put idea of the not-so-smooth ride to becoming an adult in the Jewish community, but makes sure that they know that it is worth it.

Rendell begins by introducing Inspector Wexford in the uncharateristic role of a convalescent. His dry humor is evidenced by his lack of sincere appreciation of his caregivers. There is a recurring motif that begins early on as they bundle him up for a walk to visit the statue of Sir Thomas More. The Book title comes from More's "Utopia".

This mystery is pure entertainment as we follow Inspector Wexford on his quest to solve the murder of a young woman. Red herrings abound but you won't know "Who done it" until the very end.
